ANGKASA Selangor Hosts Grand Aidilfitri Celebration with Over 3,000 Strategic Partners and Guests
Petaling Jaya, 23 April 2025 – ANGKASA Selangor hosted a vibrant and festive Aidilfitri celebration today, bringing together over 3,000 guests, including strategic partners, cooperative leaders, and representatives from government, private, and non-governmental sectors. The event took place at the MBPJ Multipurpose Hall in SS3, Kelana Jaya.
YBhg Dato’ Haji Mohd Alias Hamzah, Chairman of ANGKASA Selangor, together with the State Cooperative Committee (JKAN) and ANGKASA staff, warmly welcomed attendees to a joyous gathering aimed at strengthening cooperative ties and fostering strategic collaboration.
The celebration was further elevated by the presence of YBhg Dato’ Seri Dr Abdul Fattah Abdullah, President of ANGKASA and the ASEAN Cooperative Organisation (ACO), who officiated the presentation of appreciation certificates to 16 key strategic partners for their contributions to the event and the wider cooperative movement.
Among the honoured partners were state and national cooperative organizations, financial institutions, corporate contributors, and school-based cooperatives. Notably, Koperasi Perdagangan dan Perindustrian Malaysia Berhad showcased its commitment to innovation by hosting an electric motorcycle (EV) exhibition and promoting the upcoming film INDERA, set for cinema release.
Senior ANGKASA leadership, including the Deputy President, Vice Presidents, state chairpersons from across Malaysia, and key executives, were present—underscoring the organisation’s nationwide commitment to community engagement and cooperative development.
In light of current challenges facing the cooperative sector, there was a strong call for ANGKASA to take the lead in championing integrity, transparency, and accountability. As the national cooperative apex body, ANGKASA is urged to boldly combat corruption and prevent financial scandals while upholding the highest ethical standards. This mission should be guided by the values enshrined in the Quran and exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who was revered as the “walking Quran” and remains the most influential figure in human history. His legacy of trust, justice, and service must inspire ANGKASA to serve its members wholeheartedly and with unwavering sincerity.
This call for reform has become even more urgent in light of the recent KOMAKMUR case. The Malaysia Cooperative Societies Commission has confirmed that Koperasi Makmur Malaysia Berhad, registered under the Cooperative Societies Act 1993, is currently under investigation for financial mismanagement. A formal inspection conducted on 19 June 2023 led to a written directive for corrective action. A full investigation is now underway, with increasing public demands for those responsible for embezzlement to be prosecuted, their assets frozen, and forensic financial audits carried out on all dismissed board members to recover misappropriated funds. The plight of KOMAKMUR’s members, many of whom are in financial distress, underscores the pressing need for reform and responsible leadership across the cooperative sector.
ANGKASA Selangor extended its heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all parties involved, highlighting the event’s success as a reflection of unity and the collaborative spirit within Malaysia’s cooperative ecosystem.
